I'm a little behind, but loved this piece. This book - as you know - really moved me, and for many of the same reasons that it resonated with you. I'm not sure that this answers the question you posed, but I recently had a conversation with a girlfriend who celebrated the ideas that were being exchanged in a text chain. My push to her was essentially in step with the question you raised - that's great; now what's the action? I think it's a question we all need to ask ourselves. I'm sure I'm not doing nearly as much as I'd like to think I am to enact change...

100 %. Talk is cheap, right? (Said the guy who loves words.) And then you think of the digital age we're living in... posting an idea on social media is a start, but is it "real" engagement with people? I often wonder about this.

Thanks, Shu! Obama's book is on my list as well, and the audiobook is a great call. Not only because it'd be amazing to listen to it in his voice, but because I think the print version is 600 pages or so?! Not an easy book for a parent to read. I just got Dave Chang's memoir, Eat A Peach, from the library, and am loving it. More to follow on that one...
